One good quality about Dubai’s tourism is that in order to make way for it, the environment and general infrastructure of the city has not been harmed in any way. The Change Initiative is just such a project that was established keeping both, i.e. tourism and boosting the infrastructure in mind; while promoting recycling and sustainable energy among the visitors who come to the facility.

The motto of the facility is ‘Live Good, Feel Good, Do Good’, which is what The Change Initiative teaches the many visitors that comes to view its shop and dining area. The facility is basically a one stop destination that specializes in finding solutions which would reduce the significant impact of humans on the environment. Other than this, The Change Initiative also dabbles in sustainable development and its promotion.

The facility was awarded 107 LEED points out of the 110 from the US Green Building Council and was named as ‘The World’s Most Sustainable Building’. You can visit the facility at 8am till 9pm, starting from Sunday to Thursday and then from 9am to 9pm starting from Friday to Saturday.

The products that can be purchased here are all made from recyclable and environment friendly materials and follow 17 different and precise sustainability criteria which has been put forward by The Green Building Council in United States.

The building is conveniently located near Ibis Hotel and the Sharaf DG MetrO Station, and is not too far from the Mall of the Emirates.

You won’t find any crowds here and there is parking available behind the building as well as on the front.

Taste Initiative Café

Inside the building, you can also stop for a quick bite to eat after browsing through the highly imaginative and innovative products both for display and purchase. The menu of the café, although not quite an extensive one, still includes a few items that are very popular. You can also purchase freshly baked bread, which is baked onsite.

For Entertainment and Business

Other than this, the second floor of the building includes a children’s play area as well as several meeting rooms that can be hired for important meetings, conferences etc. The Change Initiative basically comprises of several innovative, environment friendly ideas for sustainable energy and recycling centers which you can explore and learn about.

Some points of interest are that the entire building makes use of solar panels, an innovative system that reuses water, and lastly, reflective paint, which means that air-conditioning doesn’t have to be used as much as in other buildings. If you are of the eco-friendly and conscious mindset, then this attraction should definitely be visited.

The Change Initiative offers lovely gift hampers that are brilliantly wrapped and which you can design to suit a particular taste or budget. The gift hampers are presented in recycled fruit crates, which can be later, reused as plant pot holders or as a storage option.
